WHAT IS MTAC?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

The Music Teachers\u2019 Association of California (MTAC) is a professional organization dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in music education. With over 4,700 members, there are more than 60 affiliated Branches throughout the state. It was founded and incorporated in 1897 under the laws of the State of California to promote the welfare of the music teacher and to elevate the educational and teaching standards of its members. Members are qualified and accredited teachers in the community. The Code of Ethics maintains a high standard of personal and professional conduct.<\/p>

WHY IS MY TEACHERS’ MTAC MEMBERSHIP IMPORTANT<\/strong>?<\/span><\/h3>

An MTAC membership signifies that your teacher is committed to maintain high standards for providing a musical education to your student. In order to qualify for membership, teachers must undergo a rigorous certification process and meet strict educational and work experience standards. Your teacher\u2019s MTAC membership is your assurance that their educational background and teaching experience has been verified by an independent, state-wide professional organization, providing the best learning opportunity for your student.<\/p>

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT INCLUDE:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

\u2022 A Bachelor\u2019s degree in music from an accredited college, university or conservatory (or the equivalent)
\u2022 Degrees obtained outside the U.S. require an equivalent to a U.S. bachelor\u2019s degree in music, documented with a special Foreign Credential Evaluation Report
\u2022 A degree emphasis or four years of individual study at a college level in the desired
Primary Instrument or Subject
\u2022 Minimum of two years teaching experience in the Primary Instrument or Subject
\u2022 Compliance with MTAC Bylaws<\/p>

MY MEMBERSHIP:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

Since 1972, I have been a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC). In those years, I have held many positions on the Board of Directors at the Branch level. I served six years as president of the Sierra Branch and have chaired various different programs, including the Certificate of Merit. I currently hold the office of Second Vice President on the MTAC State Board. I am employed by the MTAC as one of their state adjudicators. My studio follows the strict codes of the MTAC.<\/p>

As a member of the MTAC, my studio maintains the highest professional standards to ensure the utmost musical development of students. The Sierra Branch provides opportunities for teachers to expand their professional education through workshops and presentations by known lecturers and artists.
